Aleppo soap is one of the oldest soaps in the world. Its simple formula, based mainly on olive oil and laurel berry oil, makes it naturally gentle, biodegradable, and suitable for daily use. At Maison du Laurier, we ensure this authenticity is maintained by offering soaps crafted according to tradition and adhering to strict quality standards.

Ethical and animal-friendly cosmetics

Maison du Laurier also follows a strong ethical approach. All our products are vegan and not tested on animals.

We refuse any form of animal exploitation in the making of our soaps. This means our products contain no ingredients of animal origin nor any animal by-products.

Thus, our Aleppo soaps are formulated without:

beeswax
lanolin from wool
fats or lipids of animal origin

The simplicity of the Aleppo soap formula remains one of its greatest strengths. Made mainly from noble vegetable oils, it serves as a natural alternative to conventional hygiene products that are often rich in chemical additives.

Preserve the expertise of the Aleppo master soap makers

Beyond the quality of its ingredients, Maison du Laurier is committed to preserving the artisanal heritage of Aleppo soap.

Our soaps are made in an artisanal soap factory located in Syria, near the historic city of Aleppo, the birthplace of this ancient soap. This soap factory holds a geographical indication recognized by Syrian Law No. 8, Section 2, dated March 6, 2007, guaranteeing the product’s origin and authenticity.

We work directly with a master soap maker, who is also a partner of Maison du Laurier. This unique collaboration helps preserve a craft passed down through generations, while ensuring consistent standards of quality, traceability, and authenticity.

Each bar of soap is made using a traditional process that includes cooking the oils in a cauldron, hand-cutting the bars, and a drying period of at least 9 months. This process results in a naturally gentle, long-lasting soap that is rich in skin-benefiting properties.
